It took a broken back—his own, in fact—to change Joseph Canu’s childhood aspirations from dentistry to chiropractic. “I was an eighth-grade quarterback and suffered a severe head and lower back injury,” he recalls. “Over a couple of months I thought I got better, but the pain returned years later when I was in pre-med at Oakland University. No one could help.”
After graduating in 1985 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa (the world’s first and leading chiropractic school), Canu interned under the chief surgeon at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, Mich.
“When I opened my own practice, he sent me patients who were considering disc surgery. It was my forte at the time; I’d taken a lot of extra seminars and training, not only on chiropractic but on nutrition, strength, Pilates and stretching, mostly because my own back was starting to become a problem again. I was bending over patients and twisting all day, exactly what I told my patients they shouldn’t do. So I became a better doctor as a result of my own medical problem.”
“Dr. Joe” and his Rochester Chiropractic Clinic have since become renowned for offering a unique formula of incomparable care, from cutting-edge technology to remedies that date back to the Bible.
He also has a lot of faith in his faith. “I do believe that we are all spiritual beings. So we try to treat the emotional, the spiritual and the physical. If we only treat one of them, we’re missing two-thirds of the healing equation. And I’m always happy to pray with my patients.”
Dr. Paul grew up in Oak Park, MI. Following Pre-Med studies at Wayne State University, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. After graduating in 1981, he set out to learn a holistic approach to helping people with their health. This involved course studies in applied kinesiology, reflexology, and nutrition. In addition, he completed a hundred hour course to become a certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. He enjoys helping to align all of the joints and bones of the body including the cranium or head. He likes to try and find the main cause of a person’s problem and is open to dialogue with other health professionals to obtain optimum health for his patients.
His hobbies include golf, sailing, and ballroom dancing.

Hi, my name is Jessica!
I started here at the office back in 2007. I handle the behind the scenes stuff, I am the finance and billing manager.
You can always reach out to me with any questions regarding billing, insurance, or anything else!
I enjoy spending time with my 3 kids and husband when I'm not at the office!
Hi there, I'm Katie!
I have enjoyed working here at Rochester Chiropactic since 2013! You may see me as the first person when you come in, or helping the doctors manage the flow of things! I am lucky to work with two (of my 12 siblings) sisters here, along with one of my sister in laws! We really are one big family!
I have been getting chiropractic care by Dr. Joe since I was in middle school cheerleading and enjoyed having him as a family friend growing up. Being homeschooled through high school allowed me to get a head start with hands on training here at the office, and I am so happy to be a part of this family over 10 years later! I love the staff and the patients.
I enjoy being a girl mama, a dog mama, and a wife, as well as running my own small business making tumblers, apparel, and decals! Crafting is my stress reliever!
Hi, my name is Kerry and I am one of the front desk girls at Rochester Chiropractic Clinic. I joined the RCC family in September of 2015. I have enjoyed getting to know the staff, patients, and working with 3 of my sister in laws. I enjoy being a mother, spending time with my family, playing with my dog, playing the piano, reading, and watching sports.
Hi, I'm Stacey!
I have been working here at Rochester Chiropractic since 2024. I enjoy working here and getting to know the patients, and working with 3 of my sisters and my sister in law!
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two older daughters and my husband that I have been happily married to since 1999.
My name is Kelly Marcola. I’m an A.T.C. Certified Athletic Trainer, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine from Eastern Michigan University. I have worked in outpatient physical therapy for 10 years, and health and wellness for M-Fit for 6 years. I joined the family here at Rochester Chiropractic Clinic in July of 2009. What do I love best about being here? I’d have to say that it’s being able to educate each patient about stretches and exercises that can help maintain their alignment and alleviate their pain.
Hello! My name is Jasmine and I am a chiropractic assistant at Rochester Chiropractic Clinic. I am a student at Oakland University pursuing a bachelors degree in pre - physician assistant studies.
I joined the team in January of 2024. My favorite things about working here are the amazing patients and coworkers I get to work beside!
Outside of work I love to exercise, go out to eat, and watch movies!
Hello, my name is Kylee Pimentel, I am from Pennsylvania, and I graduated from high school in 2021.
I have lived in Michigan for almost 2 years now. I am a psychology student at Macomb Community College. I enjoy learning how we all work when it comes to the brain, but being able to learn the body as well is extremely exciting to me.
I love to create and use my hands. I have had my own photography business for about 3 years or so. It brings me so much joy with the understanding I have of people to see people inspired or just generally enthused about something that I myself care so much about.
I love nature and literature - mostly history or anything that I can read that will teach me something.
I enjoy learning new things and fully believe that nothing can stop me from doing anything unless I let it and I hope that my optimism rubs off on others any chance it presents itself.
I love to help others and feel extremely blessed to be where I am to help all of our family at RCC in any way that I can!
Hi, I’m Renee Turner.
I pretty much grew up right here in this office watching my uncle, Dr. Joe, provide blessed relief and guidance to his patients. I’ve worked here and in New York City as a chiropractic assistant.
About me: I’m also a singer/actress. I’ve performed at Meadow Brook and other local theatres, and sing with a band called Rio and the Rockabilly Revival, which has received airplay all around the world.
I was introduced to massage therapy through a recovery regimen after a car accident. Amazed at the strength the bodywork gave to my healing, I left my career as a paralegal and searched for a school of excellence. In 1997 I graduated from a 1000 hour Therapeutic Massage program at Health Enrichment Center, and have since been working as a full time massage therapist. I am Nationally Certified in Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as well as State Licensed and Board Certified. I understand that every person presents with unique challenges as well as preferences with respect to massage therapy as part of their own healing process and as such, approach each session with a goal to hone into the needs of each client. As a firm believer in the inseparable connection between body and mind, I find massage therapy a viable tool for enhancing overall health and well being. Simply said, I love my work!
Hi, my name is Destiny and I am a massage therapist at Rochester Chiropractic Clinic. I started working here in the fall of 2016 as a chiropractic assistant. I've really enjoyed working with the doctors, staff, and many patients along the way. What I enjoy most about working here is it aways feels like home. There's never a bad day of work and all of the patients and staff feel like family.
I enjoy anything outside, singing, and spending time with all 11 of my siblings.
